Chelsea Today

Chelsea are currently 15th in the English Premier League, they got off to a terrible start to the season as they drew with Swansea City on the 8th of August, a game which they won on two occasions the previous season. They won the first game against Swansea early in the season by winning 4-2. The next game against Swansea was a thriller which saw Chelsea beat the Swans by 5 goals to nil.

Chelsea are the current Barclays Premier League Champions, they have got off to the worst start in their season since 1988 by earning 7 points out of a possible 18. This results in Chelsea being 15th and they're chances of winning the title is getting slimmer. Despite this, they beat a very strong Arsenal team by 2 goals to nil, this is a very positive sign as it shows they are improving.

In my first blog I spoke about when and how Chelsea was formed, I also spoke about the kits. In 1905, the year they were formed, they wore royal blue shirts and white shorts and dark blue shorts, I didn't mention it, but the kits were produced in England. Now, 110 years later, Chelsea still wear the same shirt, but wear white shorts and blue socks. The kits are produced in China and shipped to England.

I also spoke about the nationalities of the Chelsea players, most of which were from England, now, only 2 players from the starting 11 are from England, those 2 are John Terry, Chelsea captain and his partner in crime, Chelsea's second centre back - Gary Cahill.

Since Abramovich took over the Blues, they have had 9 different managers, including the return of 2The Special One" - Jose Mourinho. Despite the many managers, they have had earned 14 trophies, including one of the most memorable night for both Chelsea players, and fans. The night in Munich. On the 19th of May 2012, Chelsea, the underdogs, battled against a very strong Bayern Munich team. Chelsea were missing starting centre back and captain John Terry due to suspension, but that didn't stop the future European Champions from pushing to their limits to find a very late equaliser. It came in the 88th minute and it was a header from Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. The game led to extra time which eventually resulted in penalties, in which Chelsea won. It is regarded as one of the best comebacks in football history, and any Chelsea fan will agree.
