Chelsea 2003 - 2005

In July 2003 Chelsea owner Ken Bates bought Leeds United and Chelsea was bought by a new owner... Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich purchased Chelsea Football Club.

On the 3rd of July 2003 Tim Henman was preparing for a crucial Wimbledon quarter-final and David Beckham had signed for Real Madrid but nobody batted an eye towards that, thanks to little known Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich purchased Chelsea for 140 million pounds. Initially Ken Bates was to sell the club for 60 million pounds, but that changed when Roman bought "The Blues" for 140 million, more than twice the amount Ken Bates was looking for.

10 years later, Roman Abramovich, one of the most hated football owners still owns the current English Premier League Champions. After only 10 years at Stamford Bridge, Roman managed to spend over 2 billion pounds on transfers.

Since buying Chelsea in 2003 Abramovich has not only spent over 2 billion, but has also seen 11 different faces in the Chelsea dugout. This is an average of over 1 manager per year! Jose Mourinho was the second Chelsea manager under the Abramovich era, and since then he has fallen out with Roman, left Chelsea. became friends with him, returned to Chelsea, played a season with Chelsea finishing 3rd, won the Premier League the following season and got off to the worse start in Chelsea's history since 1988.

Since Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea they have won 14 trophies. People often refer to Chelsea fans as "fake" and "plastic" due to Abramovich essentially buying Chelsea titles and trophies. This is not the case with me as my father has been supporting Chelsea since he was a child.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog on the Geography of Chelsea. All information was taken from the following websites - www.wikipedia.com and www.chelseafc.com I have written this by myself and I have NOT plagiarised!
